Table Stakes

Poker as a game has wide set of rules. There are a lot of rules to get you familiarized with before playing. One of the things to consider is when dealing with 'table stakes' rules.

The game of poker shall be played in accordance to the following table stakes rules:

1. The chips that the players on the table will use during a game are the chips that were placed on the table at the beginning of the deal. These are the only chips that will be placed in the pot.

2. However, rule number one has an exception. The chips that are considered to be in transit can be used in the game as well. Transit chips are the chips from the cashier by the house runner. This can only be done if the house has been properly informed of this incident.

If there are still chips that are waiting from the cashier, the dealer will put a button saying "playing behind" in front of the player who's chips are still behind the counter, this means that chips that were included in the game were still at the cashier and will be available to the player once they arrive.

3. Hidden money or chips that were placed under an ash tray or under the chip rack will not be included in non- tournament poker games.

4. Players playing at the table can add chips to his stack in between deals if they got the chips with them. However, a broke player that still wants to add stacks to his chips can do so if he follows the required minimum buy-in.

5. If players still want to add stacks to their chips without the chips and requested a hand but forgot to tell the exact amount, they will automatically play the minimum buy-in for that specific deal.

6. The chips that were placed on the table can be used for food, cigarettes, beverages etc.

7. A player may only get his or her chips away from the table if he or she only quits the game. So continuously removing change is forbidden.

8. Players may transmit chips to another player if everybody agrees to this rule.

9. For security reasons, it is advised for players to take all their chips and money with them when they leave the table. Since the house is not responsible for any lost cash after players have left it on the table.

If players will leave the table but will be back again they should declare the amount of their chips or money. However, after they have returned and forgot to restore their money, they cannot use it at the present deal. They will have to wait for the next deal to use their money or chips.

10. Every player has the right to view the chips of another player as long as he or she requests it.
